NEPA BlogCon 2012 is a day-long event which will be taking place on September 29 at Luzerne County Community College in Pennsylvania from registration at 8AM to the after-party ending at 7PM. This event is the first of its kind in the Northeastern Pennsylvania area offering panels and presentations discussing branding, HTML, SEO, content strategy, Google, sharing content, community management, monetizing, and all things blogging.
I have been invited to speak on the ‘Using Media Effectively’ panel to represent the NEPA Freethought Society Podcast which currently boasts 18 episodes – in addition to my recent “Does God Exist?” debate with Dr. Ronda Chervin and many recorded episodes that have not yet been released — and is approaching its one year anniversary. I have recently authored a guest post for NEPA BlogCon 2012 concerning civility and rationality as a precursor to the panel discussion on which I will be participating.
The keynote speaker for the event is Gala Darling of www.galadarling.com whose international fame has earned her the title of of one the ten most influential style bloggers in the world and a ‘Web-tethered gadabout.’ New York City improve sketch comedian Evan Barden, photographer Mike Burnside, and former CEO and founder of Pepperjam Kris Jones will be in attendance alongside many other speakers and presenters.
Conference organizers Karla Porter, Leslie Stewart, Mandy Boyle, and Michelle Davies – ‘The Fearsome Foursome’ – have worked together to plan the conference and make it a success. Karla and Michelle were recently on television promoting the conference (see the later half of the clip here).
Proceeds from the convention will go to The Arc of Luzerne County (an organization provided to improving the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families) and the NEPA Veterans Multicare Alliance (a volunteer service organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families).
Following my appearance at NEPA BlogCon 2012, I will be speaking at the PA State Atheist/Humanist Conference in Harrisburg, PA. It will be a busy weekend and a great opportunity to meet people interested in my work. Members of the NEPA Freethought Society will also be in attendance at both events. I hope to see you on September 29-30!
