I’ll be leading a Stoic Philosophy discussion group focusing on the topic of friendship at 2 P.M. on May 21, 2017 in Willow Grove, PA. The event will take place in the second floor community room at Giant supermarket. This event is open to the public, free of charge, and hosted by the Humanist Association of Greater Philadelphia.
After the discussion group, attendees are welcome to join me and others for dinner and further discussion in the downstairs cafe area.
What can you expect? I’ve uploaded videos from previous discussion groups and other content on YouTube and SoundCloud.
The entire discussion is not recorded and attendees’ comments are not included the the videos, so you’ll have to attend for the full experience.
Epictetus’ ‘Discourses,’ Marcus Aurelius’ ‘Meditations,’ and Seneca’s ‘Letters from a Stoic’ will be referred to in this discussion.
At discussion groups, I provide a short introduction to Stoic Philosophy and lead discussion based on whichever topic is chosen for the month using passages from Stoic writers including some of my own thoughts. Members react to the passages, share their thoughts, and we have good discussion.
More information about the event, including an RSVP list, is here on the Humanist Association of Greater Philadelphia’s meetup page.
